PlatoCode™ Automated Coding Software www.platocode.comHow PlatoCode™ Works PlatoCode™ is a revolutionary new software product that can “read” a provider's transcribed medical note and determine the billable CPT4 and ICD9-CM codes. It dramatically outperforms manual coding or even semi-automated coding systems with its accuracy, speed, and more precise coding values. PlatoCode™ does not require the provider to dictate in a prescribed template format. Instead, it allows speakers to use their own natural dictation style. The PlatoCode™ software reviews the electronic text file of the transcribed note, and a list of the billable CPT and ICD9 codes is given back to the provider. The results can either be sent via e-mail to the provider for review prior to entry, or PlatoCode™ can be integrated into the practice billing system for automated entry of the CodeReady™ selected codes. The PlatoCode™ solution is not an ordinary Natural Language Processing (NLP) system. It is a completely new process that does not rely on a series of rules or statistical estimations. As a result, the PlatoCode™ solution is not limited to specialties where there is a small number of source documents for coding, a high volume of repetitive cases and a limited clinical vocabulary. The PlatoCode™ engine was originally designed to produce codes for ambulatory surgery—a highly complex coding task.
